Marco shouldn't blame himself at all for what's happened. He was trying to help Jean, and it was Jean's stupid body that reacted so strongly and decided to kick into heat. He also had numerous chances to leave, and Jean asked him to stay. This is on both of them, and Jean isn't upset that it went this way at all.

For just a second, Jean considers biting Marco. He even bares his teeth, and scrapes them lightly over Marco's scent gland. If the scents had been strong before, they're even more intense when he does that, so strong it's like a oily taste in the back of his throat.

For once, though, Jean's better senses take over, and he pulls back, shaking his head. The movement clears some of the scent, and he's able to breathe again.

"Marco, I can't." It comes out as a whine, and Jean doesn't even care. "If I bite you, we'll be mated."
